Winter is a fantastic time at The Outpost. We get frequent snow falls and days are filled with bracing walks and enjoying tea and scones around a warm cosy fire. Mt Selwyn is our closest ski field and a 45 minute drive away. It is the most northerly of Australia’s ski resorts with a base elevationof 1,492 metres and a top elevation of 1,614 metres. That might sound high but it’s actually lower than Yaouk Peak (1,784 metres), which is adjacent to The Outpost (see Walks). The longest run at Selwyn Snowfields is the 800 metres Long Arm Run. The resort is perfect for small children and beginners. If you want more challenging skiing, we recommend Perisher or Thredbo, which are about 2 hours’ drive.

Come and enjoy a real winter experience at The Outpost.
